A title like a pop song. How a real tsunami not only spreads fear and terror, but also love.
On December 26, 2004, a 9.2 magnitude seaquake caused a huge tidal wave northwest of Indonesia. The quake was one of the strongest ever measured. In the first phase of the tsunami, Thailand, Sri Lanka, India, Malaysia, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Indonesia and Sumatra were directly affected. Thousands of people lost their lives. About 8 hours later the big wave reached the east coast of Africa. Many more people died in countries as far away as as Somalia, Tanzania, Kenya, South Africa, Madagascar and the Seychelles. A total of more than 230,000 people were said to have lost their lives and a myriad of others lost their homes and everything they owned.
Even at a safe distance in Europe, the event shocked and imprinted itself as an all-shattering trauma. Then no more Christmas cookies helped.
The people in the affected areas hurried inland in search of protection. Aid organizations built camps and cared for the survivors as best they could.
And then it happened. Emotionally agitated, shocked and shaken, people sought protection, closeness and warmth in the camps - and fell in love. There are now annual meetings to commemorate the tsunami and as a reunion with other victims. As much as the natural disaster had raged, as much suffering and death it had spread, love could not be broken.
In my mind’s eye, conversations take place like „And how did you find your love?“ - „The tsunami washed it up.“ The greatest fear that exists, that of your own annihilation, is not able to extinguish that remaining small flame that makes you search for love. We can only put it out by ourselves, and in order to prevent us from doing it accidentally or on purpose, our friends from the flower world help us. Some have already plunged into the floods out of heartache, not knowing that it is an illusion to think that love is over. It is the error that drives you to despair. If even a tsunami cannot destroy love, how should rejection, loss, or disappointment?
Honeysuckle - Lonicera caprifolia
A flower essence for a special mistake. Which is: it will never be the same again – and that is bad. Beautiful experiences are transfigured, romanticized and idealized and condense to the belief that the experience is unique and unrepeatable. You indulge in memories and accidentally slam the inner door to new love. After all, the partner was as unique as the time spent together, which of course applies. This thinking only supersedes the fact that other people are unique, too, and such times are waiting for you if you just stop comparing. It will never be the same as it was then. It will be different one way or the other. The only question is: do you want to get involved? Honeysuckle invites you to try it. Sighed enough, dreamed and mourned, now it’s time to open his heart.
If we stick to the picture of the force of nature, we will come to a flower that since Edward Bach’s times enjoys a safe place in the flower range of every practitioner:
Cherry Plum - Prunus cerasidera
Cherry Plum is particularly useful, if you fear the inner tsunami, the total loss of control. You increase your inner resistance until you fear to explode, just don’t give in, give up, indulge. You like to „go with the flow“ but there is no flow, there is just inner tension that builds up and threatens to overwhelm you. What is meant is the inner decision to trust the flow of things and the certainty that everything will be fine when you let go and accept. Cherry plum helps to overcome inner resistance to love and devotion. It takes away the fear of losing control and the explosion known as orgasm.
Consists of Cherry (Prunus avium), Cherry Plum (Prunus cerasifera) and Bird Cherry (Prunus padus).
Cherry has developed into the standard remedy for all those who want to feel the tickling in the heart (again) clearly. The flower for the exuberant zest for life, childlike fun, even silliness, giggles, palpitations, excitement in the most pleasant sense. Suitable for all those who feel their everyday lives have become grey and dull, who think they are suffocating in routine and who are no longer having fun. In addition, Cherry Plum helps to release the inner fun brake. The third in the group is Bird Cherry. Peter Ekl, head of the Flower Essence Working Group in Germany (BAK) and author of „Blütentherapie und Naturerfahrung“ (Flowers Essence Therapy and Experience of Nature) describes their characteristics as follows: „Make yourself truly noticeable, offer a conflict area, resolve conflicts in the right place, true closeness to people.“
That seems to me a successful rounding off for a combination of cherry blossom essences for everyone who wants to learn to love again.
This combination of four flowers and an environmental essence aims at hardened inner states that make it difficult, perhaps almost impossible to open yourself up to the beautiful things in life and to others. Whenever you are stuck and could use a little push to get out of the predicament, depression, sadness and annoyance, this mixture can provide the right energy for it.
The spring mix of four flower and one environmental essence includes:
- Spring Moon - to open up to its gentle, imaginative side and to welcome the new life that sprouts yourself
- Snowdrop - helps this germ to break through inside. Everything that has been frozen can thaw and reappear
- Cherry - brings the tingling, the joie de vivre, a feeling of being freshly in love
- St. John’s Wort - makes you brave and strong and lets the sunlight be absorbed into your soul
- Bougainvillea - strengthens our playful and dreamy side, brings out the poet of tender verse in us.
