Broad-leaved Orchid - Dactylorhiza majalis
The healer of the inner male.
Broad-leaved Orchid works on the same level as Willowherb, but its energy is yang. Significantly, the large round brown spots on leaves remind of scars from stubbed out cigarettes. This plant looks as if they had been tortured - yet it stands upright and blooms beautifully. "Orchis", which is part of the botanical name of the plant family means testicle, alluding to the shape of the roots.
This essence heals the wounds of the inner man and the masculine part of the personality, regardless of whether it is a man, a little boy or a woman who need healing. The danger to shake the male self-image is, of course, the greatest in childhood and adolescence. Boys, whose inner male was injured, often remain small and weak, if they do not fall into the other extreme and become very aggressive. Most of them however will belong to the ones who are beaten in the schoolyard by bigger ones. They feel so worthless that they, for example, find the idea of ever having a girlfriend completely absurd. What girl would probably like to have a friend who is not in a position to defend himself. Weakness makes unattractive.
These boys are not considered as real men. Worse, they are convinced that they do not deserve better, misfits that they are. They just do not know what it's like and feels like to be a man. But maybe they will find out with some help to get back into the (male) balance: Broad-leaved Orchid.
